Townsville’s local theatre scene is buzzing with excitement as the talented students of the Libretto School of the Arts prepare to present their rendition of the beloved musical, Annie Jr. Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression in the 1920s, this production is all the more poignant as it emerges in today’s challenging economic climate.
Despite a slow start, Director Alyssa Oliveri-Kelly is thrilled to announce a significant milestone: 1000 tickets have been sold, thanks to a last-minute surge of support from the community. This heartwarming achievement underscores the resilience and passion of the local arts sector, which continues to thrive even in tough times.
Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing two of the show’s stars, who will be alternating in the role of Miss Hannigan. Their excitement and dedication to the production are truly inspiring. They shared insights into their preparation, the joy of performing, and the camaraderie they’ve built with their fellow cast members.
