SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW- SUPERWOMAN: A CONVERSATION WITH JOY OKOBI

This week on Sunday Spotlight, I had the privilege of sitting down with Joy Okobi—known to many as Joiy—to talk about her incredible new song Superwoman.

Joy’s story is one of resilience, faith, and finding strength when life feels impossible. Originally from Nigeria, Joy arrived in Townsville with almost nothing. But through the kindness of this community, her faith in God, and her own determination, she’s now using her voice to empower others—especially women—to step into their true identity.

Joy shared how Superwoman started as a melody 15 years ago, but it wasn’t until she walked through some of her hardest seasons—rejection, loss, and self-doubt—that the song really came to life. Inspired by Philippians 4:13 (“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength”), this song became her personal anthem and a declaration of truth over herself.

“It’s not just a song,” Joy told me. “It’s me choosing to reject the labels people placed on me and standing in the truth of who God says I am.”

What’s Next for Superwoman

The song is just the beginning. Joy is currently working on a Superwoman book, sharing stories of real women who’ve overcome impossible odds. She’s also building a Superwoman community, where women can encourage, empower, and stand with each other in every season of life.

“It’s not about being perfect,” Joy said. “It’s about knowing who you are in God and walking in that truth every single day.”
