A Morning of Food, Friendship, and Purpose
There’s something powerful that happens when men gather — especially over good food and good purpose.
Calvary Church Townsville is hosting its annual Men’s Breakfast on Saturday, 1 November, starting at 8:00am, and this year it’s all in support of a cause close to home — The Battle Initiative.
The morning promises a hearty smoked-meat breakfast, great company, and real conversations about faith, health, and community. Whether you’re a regular churchgoer or just coming along for the food and fellowship, everyone is welcome.
“We want to give men an opportunity to bring a friend who maybe hasn’t experienced church in a positive way — and give back to our community at the same time,” shared Pastor Craig Hannay from Calvary.
Each year, the breakfast raises funds for a local cause, and this year’s proceeds will support The Battle Initiative, a Townsville-based organisation helping current and former Defence and first responders find healing, hope, and strength through community and faith.
“We don’t send soldiers out alone. We don’t send first responders out alone. So why should men fight their battles alone?” said Andrew Hovenden from The Battle Initiative. “Our vision is to save lives — and gatherings like this help make that possible.”
From tackling men’s health and mental wellbeing to encouraging stronger family connections, the morning is designed to encourage, equip, and inspire.
