CIVIC THEATRE ON SHOW THIS EVENT SEASON

Townsville’s event season is already in full swing following a plethora of major events that have taken over the city, and the Civic Theatre is joining the action.

With touring shows such as Jekyll and Hyde, Margaret Fulton the Musical, The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race, GASP and more, there is plenty to see this theatre season.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said that while sports had stolen the limelight initially, there was so much more on offer at the Civic Theatre.

“This year has been huge for Townsville’s event season, we’ve had some incredible events and announcements already, so our theatre season is flying under the radar and I think it’s important we put a spotlight on the incredible shows coming up,” Cr Greaney said. “Not only do we have shows touring here that have been incredibly popular right across the country, but we also have some fantastic local talent that will be showcased on stage at our Civic Theatre.”

Cr Greaney urged theatre-goers to jump on to Council’s website and buy tickets to one or more of the shows.

“We’re so lucky to have such a vibrant theatre culture in Townsville and to have the chance to see these fantastic productions right here at home,” she said. “We really want to the community to experience everything our theatre season has to offer and that’s why we’re offering a 30 per cent discount for anyone who purchases tickets to three shows. With six productions to choose from, I’m urging everyone to jump on to What’s On and check out the shows coming up and think about taking advantage of this discount to make a month out of it.”
