COUNCIL AND COWBOYS COME TOGETHER FOR FIELD OF DREAMS

There are only a few days left to nominate a local charity or community organization to receive tickets to a Cowboys’ 2024 NRL game.

Townsville City Council has partnered with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys to give deserving individuals the opportunity to head along to a home game.

The Council will give 90 tickets to either a local charity or community organization to hand to locals who wouldn’t normally get the chance to go to a Cowboys’ game as part of the Field of Dreams program.

Council has extended an invitation to the community to nominate a local charity or community organization deserving of the tickets.

A Council spokesperson said Council was proud to partner with the Cowboys on the program.

“Townsville is the heartland for rugby league and our community is passionate about the Cowboys,” they said. “The magic of the game brings our community together to foster a sense of unity and joy among our residents, so we are thrilled to offer this opportunity to residents who haven’t been able to experience it. We believe in the power of community and the Field of Dreams program perfectly encapsulates that spirit. We are now calling on the community to help us select the worthwhile groups to receive these complimentary Cowboys’ home game tickets.

Cowboys Chief Executive Jeff Reibel said the Field of Dreams program supported over 360 North Queenslanders a year to see their heroes live in action at a Cowboys game.

“Since 2007 we’ve received tremendous support from our partners to make it possible for individuals and groups in the community to experience the excitement of a Cowboys home game,” Mr Reibel said. “We applaud Council for recognising the valuable contribution of our local community and charity groups in the North by supporting the program.”

Nominations close on Tuesday, 6 February.
