CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL
The Little Children’s Book Festival
Come along for a morning celebrating children’s books, imagination and the wonderful people who bring stories to life! The Little Children’s Book Festival is a grassroots community event created to celebrate reading and shine a spotlight on local and independent children’s books. It’s a chance for families to discover new stories, meet the people behind them and enjoy a fun day of books, creativity and connection. Families can expect a fun mix of local and indie creators, arts and crafts, bookish fun, book stalls and plenty of opportunities to discover something new to read.
What can families do?
- Discover new books – Browse a range of children’s books and find your next family favourite.
- Get creative – Join in with fun, hands-on activities inspired by children’s stories and book characters.
- Meet the authors– Ask questions, learn how children’s books are made and discover what inspires the people who create them.
- Dress up for Book Week – Come dressed in your favourite Book Week costume for a chance to win a fantastic book prize!
- Become an author pen pal – Discover letters written especially for children by authors at the festival. Read their messages, then write back if you wish! Children can also visit the festival letterbox to post a drawing, postcard or letter for an author to read.
- Play, explore and create – There will be plenty for little hands and curious minds to discover throughout the festival.
- Discover the reading guide – Sign up to receive a free digital Queensland Kids’ Reading Guide featuring book recommendations in collaboration with Mary Who? Bookshop.
- Grab a coffee or bite to eat – A coffee van will be on site serving food and drinks, so families can refuel while enjoying the festival.
Whether your child is already a bookworm or simply loves getting stuck into a good story, there will be something to spark their imagination.
Come along, support local storytellers, discover new favourites and celebrate the joy of children’s books with our community.
