Townsville City Council is urging residents in low-lying areas to prepare their properties ahead of the expected king tides.
The tides are predicted to reach peaks of 3.86m at 8am on Saturday 27 March, 3.92m at 8:35am on Sunday 28 March, and 3.84m at 9:10am on Monday 30 March.
Residents living in or visiting areas that may be affected – such as South Townsville, Railway Estate, Hanran Street and Ogden Street – should observe all warning and road closures.
Residents should also move any valuable and cars that could be impacted by salt-water flooding if they are concerned.
Anyone driving through impacted areas should remain vigilant around flooded roads – if it’s flooded, forget it.
