LUKE GEIGER TO BRING HIS ‘LONG GAME’ FOR COWBOYS DOUBLE-HEADER

10/05/2023

His catch cry is ‘taking requests, not breaks’ and NQ country music sensation Luke Geiger and his
the band will be doing just that when they play The Long Game in Flinders Lane on Saturday night.

It will be a double dose of cowboy action with the FREE country concert kicking off after the
Cowboys’ home game against the Dragons.

The Long Game events aim to generate and retain atmosphere and activity in the CBD around
home games and other events at Queensland Country Bank Stadium and build to a true laneway
experience for Townsville.

Flinders Lane owner Martin Locke said the event team was expecting a great turnout.
“This will be our first real foray into larger-scale live music events in the laneway which is
exciting,” Mr Locke said.

“Luke is a talented bloke and has a great following and he just keeps on playing which is perfect
for The Long Game event,” he said.

“There’s a real buzz around town about the show and we’re excited to see Flinders Lane
brought to life this weekend and hopefully that flows out and on to other CBD nightlife traders.”
Luke Geiger’s career is blowing up after he ditched the high vis in December 2021 after nearly
two decades working in construction, in favour of a full-time cowboy hat and guitar.

He’s coming off shows in Bloomsbury, Mackay, and Mt Isa and that’s only in the last two weeks.
“We’re pumped to be coming to Townsville and be part of one of the first big live music events
in Flinders Lane,” Luke said.

“I still pinch myself every day that this is actually my job,” he said.
“I couldn’t do it without my band, family and friends and everyone who rocks up to my concerts,
and the only way I know how to thank them is by putting on a bloody good show every time.”

Flinders Lane is directly across from City Lane and a short walk to and from Queensland Country
Bank Stadium and the Flinders Street East nightclub precinct.

The front cocktail bar will be open from 4 pm and the Cowboys v Dragons game will be shown on
the big screens from 5.30 pm, with Luke Geiger playing from 7.30 pm and cold drinks, hot food
and good times till late.
