Go Tell It to Australia

Lyrics and Song by Colin Buchanan

It’s Christmas time in Garbutt, in Heatley and Rosslea.

It’s Christmas in Annandale and over there in beautiful Maggie

So, go tell it to Australia, in the city, bush, and everywhere

So, go and tell it to Australia that Jesus Christ is born

(Bells) (Na Na Na Na)

It’s Christmas time in Kelso, in Cranbrook and West End

It’s Christmas time in Bushy Beach, in North Ward, and in Kirwin

So, go and tell it to Australia, in the city, the bush, and everywhere

So, go and tell it to Australia, that Jesus Christ is born

(Na na na)

It’s Christmas time in Vicent, Rowes Bay, and Aitkenvale

It’s Christmas time in Mundingburra and all across Townsvilllllllleeeee…..

So, go and tell it to Australia

In the city, the bush, and everywhere

Go and tell it to Australia that Jesus Christ is born

(Na na na)

Here is Colin’s Audio of the song- Enjoy!

Day 4: Twelve Days of Christmas: The Story Behind These Strange Gifts?

Four calling birds, four mockingbirds, four canaries… or what about the four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John?

A gift is given to us to reflect a message of ‘The Good News of Jesus.” These are stories that teach us lessons of peace, love, compassion, truth, and understanding that can transform our lives and the lives of those around us. These stories are so precious and great to pass on to everyone, and although you may not relate to the gospels themselves, you may relate to having a family story that is precious to you!

Just like the four stories of the gospels are precious, so are your family stories and traditions.

Day 4 Action: Call a friend or relative and reminisce about your favourite Christmas memories or traditions. If you have children or grandchildren, be sure to include them in the passing of precious family memories.

Day 3: Twelve Days of Christmas: The Story Behind These Strange Gifts?

Three french hens represent three gifts of faith, hope, and love. A reflection of 1 Corinthians 13, “The Love Chapter,” where Paul reminds us that if we don’t have love, we are nothing. He goes on to say that, “…no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.”

Without faith, hope, or love what do we have left?

What a wonderful gift we’ve been given to be able to reflect faith, hope, and love to those around us.

Day 3 Action: Write a note to someone in your life, expressing your love for them, or inspiring hope.

Day 2: Twelve Days of Christmas: The Story Behind These Strange Gifts?

Two turtle doves – these are two twin birds, one and the same and they represent the Old and New Testaments. These two doves are a Biblical roadmap completing the story of Christian faith and God’s plan for the world, available to everyone. These are two records that include prophecies that testify of the birth of Christ and the inspired testimony of those who knew Jesus, the events of His life, and His teachings. What a powerful gift and tool to be given to us; a way of knowing God and how we are supposed to live according to His word.

The Old and New Testament hold so many Scriptures that are valuable and can be lived out!

Day 2 Action: Download and print these scriptures. Put them on your fridge, in a frame, or as a gift to a friend.

Mayor’s Christmas Appeal launches to help locals in need

Local can help locals with ease this festive season with the new-look Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.

Townsville City Council has revamped the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal to help make it simpler to donate directly to local community organisations that are making a difference across the city.

Mayor Jenny Hill said Christmas time was about connecting with family and community, as well as a time to give to those less fortunate.

“The Mayor’s Christmas Appeal this year is focussed on putting the spotlight on the wonderful charities across our city that work hard all year round to support locals,” Cr Hill said. “We have developed a campaign to showcase these groups more widely and have also developed a website with information and links to local charities and organisations for people to provide their support and donations directly. By generously giving to these organisations people will be able to support locals in need during Christmas.”

Cr Hill said Christmas was the perfect time to connect community, especially following a tough year.

“Our city has had a few challenging years, with the unprecedented monsoon last year and coronavirus this year,” she said.

“It’s more important now than ever for our community to come together to support each other. It’s as easy as checking the website and asking what you can give to help make Christmas brighter for everyone in our city.

“You can donate money, gifts, or food by heading to mayorschristmasappeal.com.au.

“The organisations and charities involved are in close contact with those in need across the city, so this is a great way to ensure that they are getting the right kinds of donations this Christmas season.”
