Team Townsville: working together to get Townsville back on its feet

18/02/2019

Recovering from a disaster is usually a gradual process. Safety is a primary issue, as are mental and physical wellbeing. If assistance is available, knowing how to access it makes the process faster and less stressful.

To help people get back on their feet, Team Townsville, an initiative of Townsville City Council, Combined Churches, YWAM and Live FM, is heading to the streets to care for the residents of Townsville by asking how they are and coordinating the connection of essential services to individuals and families.

This is a unique opportunity to meet a huge need in our city to look people in the eye and ask if they’re okay.

Team Townsville is following the SES in the highest priority areas and then working systematically across the city, according to the Council’s priority areas.

The teams who have headed out so far have found it has been a tremendous support to people who have been through very traumatic circumstances.
