Townsville is in for a treat this theatre season with a slew of remarkable dance, drama, cabaret, music and comedy shows at the Civic Theatre.

The highly-anticipated season of theatre will include beloved theatre classics like Don Juan, Jekyll & Hyde and Jane Eyre, as well as new stories like Wilbur the Optical Whale and Undertow.

Mayor Jenny Hill said tickets would be selling fast to these performances.

“Avid theatre fans have been patient during the last two years and they’re now keen to get out and experience all of the excitement of live theatre, dance, cabaret, music and comedy shows. Luckily for them our 2022 theatre season is packed with incredible performances that are sure to delight,” Cr Hill said. “I would encourage anyone looking forward to these shows to get in fast to book tickets – this is especially helpful for touring shows as it demonstrates how keen Townsville is to see them perform at Civic Theatre.”

Cr Hill said there was an easy way to stay up-to-date with events at the Civic Theatre.

“This is a really good time to look at becoming a member of the theatre. Membership gives you 10 per cent off all Council-presented performances, plus selected touring and local productions. It also keeps you in the loop with special offers via email, invitations to exclusive events, and a monthly newsletter,” she said.

“Head to or chat with the friendly staff at the TicketShop to join for $10.”
