Townsville is home to passionate individuals and groups working tirelessly behind the scenes to improve lives and build a stronger community. Shining Stars is 99.9 Live FM’s annual campaign dedicated to shining a light on these amazing not-for-profits, clubs, churches, and community organisations that make our region better every day.
By nominating and voting, you help recognise their incredible work and provide practical support through on-air sponsorship that helps them grow, connect, and amplify their impact.
Here’s what’s coming up for Shining Stars 2025:
Nominations Open
August 20–31
Nominate your favourite local group — whether it’s a charity, sporting club, church, or community organisation — and help them get on the path to winning a share of over $30,000 in sponsorship.
Voting Open & On-Air Call Outs
September 1–11
Vote for the groups that inspire you! Your vote helps decide who wins big. Plus, tune in to 99.9 Live FM for live call-outs where groups can win bonus sponsorship when supporters call in.
Winners Announced
September 12
Celebrate with us as we announce the winners live on air, sharing their stories and the impact your support has made. The top group wins a share of $30,000 in on-air sponsorship, and a random voter will be drawn to win $1,000 cash!
