Flock to Perc Tucker for a New Exhibition this Weekend

Residents can flock to Perc Tucker Regional Gallery to immerse themselves in Rosie Deacon’s exhibition Cockatoo Cavern Fever this month.

The exhibition is an explosion of colour, light, play, painting and sculpture with fantasy worlds stoking the imagination of anyone that ventures into the caverns and forests created by the artist.

Division 3 Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said this exhibition is a fantastic one to have on over the school holidays.

“Cockatoo Cavern Fever is going to fit out Perc Tucker with bright colours, imaginative displays and multi-media artworks,” Cr Greaney said.

“Parents can bring their kids into the city to visit the exhibition, take part in some arts workshops and then explore the other activities happening around the city.”

Arts and Culture Advisory Committee Member Cr Verena Coombe said the exhibition would appeal to the whole family.

“It really is an exhibition that will appeal to the entire family and there will be craft workshops creating their own animal cut-outs for the kids,” Cr Coombe said.

“There will also be an over 18’s workshops where attendees will learn how to apply their own cockatoo makeup and drink some wine.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing Perc Tucker transformed and sharing Rosie Deacon’s art with Townsville.”

Cockatoo Cavern Fever will launch on 12 April and will be on display at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery until 16 June.
