GET MORE BANG FOR YOUR BOOK

Get on the same page as book clubs across Townsville by registering your group to browse and borrow from Townsville Citylibraries’ extensive book club collection for free. Citylibraries has more than 120 book club sets, giving readers the chance to read popular titles for free as a group. Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said the book club sets were just one way that Council was working to help Townsville residents increase their social connection.

“A book club is a great way to get together with old and new friends and bond over a common interest, something Townsville Citylibraries aims to support through its book club collection. This collection includes sets of books that are free for registered book clubs to borrow and include up to 12 copies of the title per set to cater for book clubs large and small. Literacy is important at all stages of life and joining a book club is a great way to make social connections, read a good book and expand your horizons. If you want to browse or reserve book club sets, head to Council’s website and register your book club. There are titles like Lola in the Mirror by Trent Dalton and Yellowface by Rebecca F Kuang, available to be borrowed for up to six weeks.” Cr Greaney said.

Cr Greaney said borrowing from the library was now easier than ever with recently-launched Townsville Citylibraries app.

“With the Townsville Citylibraries app you can easily browse our catalogue, including digital titles, from your device. By downloading the app and becoming a Citylibraries member for free you can unlock a world of free resources, including novels, children’s books and non-fiction, as well as checking if the library has copies of books, mobile printing, booking free spaces at the city’s three libraries, and more.” she said.
