Hillsong is hoping its latest song will inspire listeners and remind them of God’s presence.
Released on October 9th, Never Walk Alone is the premier track from the group’s forthcoming album These Same Skies.
The song, with vocals led by Mi-kaisha Rose, is a ballad that speaks of God’s comfort and presence.
Ben Fielding, one of the writers on the song and worship leader at Hillsong Worship, said it can be a comfort during these tough times.
A comfort during these tough times.
“In days where so many might be isolated or feeling disconnected from community or even abandoned by God, I wonder if the words of Moses to Joshua in Deuteronomy 31:7 could be written to us,” he said in a statement.
Never Walk Alone seeks to inspire listeners with its message of reassurance and strength.
“I have never walked alone / I’ve never been abandoned / You are my inheritance / You are my strength and shield,” sings the chorus.
“And I have confidence / You go before me / You’re my deliverer / I know I never walk alone.”
Remembering God’s promises
Mr Fielding believes it’s important to remember God’s promises to His people.
“We can be confident in the promise of God. He will deliver us. Our inheritance is the Lord; His presence is our promised land,” he said.
“We can walk forward with courage that the same God who sustained and rescued His people then is our strength and shield, He who goes before us, is with us and will never leave or forsake us.”
This latest release follows Hillsong’s previous release Hope of The Ages, which features Hillsong’s Reuben Morgan and two-time Grammy-nominated Cody Carnes as co-primary artists.
Another ballad, the song testifies about the ever-enduring love of Christ and speaks of the infallible qualities of God.
“Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of the things that are most true,” Reuben Morgan said in a statement.
“The wonder and the power of the Gospel. The saving and transforming work of Jesus. The unshakable truth of the Bible. Christ’s desire to draw all people to Himself and His relentless passion for the church He is building.
“Even the darkest moments in our lives and throughout history cannot quench the light of the Gospel – I believe this is the greatest season in history for the church.”

Since the song’s debut in August, it has had more than 1.1 million global streams.
