Catch all the action of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on the big screen as Townsville goes LIVE at Strand Park. The Paralympic Games kicks off on Thursday and runs until Sunday September 8, showcasing the world’s best athletes with a range of disabilities. Council, in partnership with the Queensland Government, is giving Townsville residents and visitors the chance to cheer on the athletes from Townsville’s premier beach promenade with free live screenings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Councillor and Olympian Suzy Batkovic said the screening was a great way to relax and enjoy all the action live from Paris.
“Whether you’re there to back the mighty green and gold, barrack for your home country, or just enjoy the atmosphere, Strand Park will be the place to be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” Cr Batkovic said. “The Paralympic Games shows us the perseverance of the human spirit and the remarkable athleticism of Paralympians from across the world. “Bring a blanket and your friends, family and teammates to enjoy all the Paralympic Games action for free on the big screen this weekend.”
Council will broadcast Channel 9’s live coverage of the Paralympic Games from 5pm – 9pm on Friday, from 10am – 6pm on Saturday and from 10am – 5pm on Sunday at Strand Park. Accessible facilities and wheelchair access are available at Strand Park.
