I’ve wanted to interview Bryan and Katie Torwalt for a long time now. My mom gifted me with their album “Champion” years ago and it was of those albums I listened to over and over again and made a genuine impact in my life. So when I heard they were about to release a new album – their first live recorded album – I knew it was time to reach out! From the album artwork, to the thoughtfulness of the lyrics, this felt like the perfect song of the season – for me – and I have a hunch it may be the same for you, too.
By way of background, Bryan and Katie are artists, songwriters, and worship leaders. The Torwalts connected with us from their home in Sacramento, California where they reside, along with their beautiful daughter Indigo. They have been part of the Jesus Culture Music since 2010 and are passionate about writing songs for the church, as they live to see the earth transformed to Heaven’s likeness. They share with us here some of the story and inspiration behind their first live EP, I’ve Got Good News, recorded as they celebrated being back on the road after the pandemic. Captured in Orange County, I’ve Got Good News features songs written by Chandler Moore, Cody Carnes, Brock Human, Chris Davenport, Naomi Raine, and more. The new album features 11 live-recorded tracks and follows the couple’s No. 1 song on Air1 “Miracle In The Works.”
Katie and Bryan will share some of their favourite songs – be sure to let us know yours. – Bek
