The Jetstar newsroom has stated that they added almost 400 extra flights to accommodate for a busy holiday season around the end of last year and January this year.
So where are the key getaway places, people are heading to?
Jetstar stated that their flights to Bali, Thailand and Hawaii in the previous season were often a full flight. The additional flights Jetstar added were trips to Bali, Phuket, Gold Coast, Whitsunday Coast, Byron Bay, Perth and Osaka and others – taking off from various locations around Australia.
So it seems our country enjoy a relaxing holiday along the beachside or on a beautiful Island. It’s no surprise that these chosen holiday beaches are among the most stunning sites with their white sand and crystal blue waters. People love to rejuvenate and recharge on the ocean edge probably not just because of the beauty, but the calming and soothing effect that the beach environment and atmosphere has, especially on a cluttered and stressed mind.
I’ve learned if I want to rejuvenate I need to recuperate around nature and not man made things. Researchers have said the ocean increases happiness. The colour blue is associated with calmness, not to mention the crisp clean air, fresh ocean breeze and that soft murmur of the waves (rather than the hustle and bustle of city life, polluted cities and tight schedules). Our brains are not highly stimulated by all the intense external activities going on around us, instead our brain gets peace and quiet and we feel relaxed.
However, our true and full rest for our souls is found in God.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29 NIV)
“Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly He is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
(Psalm 62:1-2 NIV)
