TOWNSVILLE TALENT TO SHINE AT CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT

Townsville residents can come and watch our local stars shine bright this festive season at Carols By Candlelight.

Family and friends can come together under the big top on Sunday, December 4 at Riverway Oval for a fun-filled night of Christmas spirit, with gates opening from 4pm.

Special guest Sophie Ricca headlines a stellar cast of local talent that will delight crowds on the night, with 1 RAR band, the Townsville Choral Society Carols by Candlelight Choir and more local singers and dancers all on hand to guide everyone through their favourite Christmas classics.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said she was thrilled to see the event focusing on local talent this year.

“We have such fantastic performers in Townsville so it’s brilliant they will get to take centre stage at this year’s Carols by Candlelight,” Cr Greaney said.

“There’s nothing that puts us in the Christmas spirit like Christmas Carols, so come and sing along under the stars at this family-friendly event.

“The evening will have an Auslan Interpreter present and there will also be food stalls, art and craft workshops, amusement rides, and of course a special visit from Santa.”

Flame-safe candles will be available at the event, which will help support this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.

Carols By Candlelight will run from 5pm at Riverway Oval. Entry is free.
