Celebration!
Easter is just around the corner! And these days, it’s hard not to notice. Supermarkets are loaded with Easter eggs up and down the aisles and the Easter long weekend is one we’ve all been looking forward to.
At Live FM, we’ve been thinking about Easter for some time now. One way has been through our reflections on Lent. As the Lent season builds towards Easter, we can’t help but feel the anticipation rising towards a grand occasion and we’ve therefore been taking time to consider what exactly it is that we are looking forward to at Easter.
Easter is a celebration. Historically, good things happened on this day, and today, the good things can continue. Here are three things that we can keep in mind to remember the good that comes out of celebrating Easter.
Celebrate who Jesus is.
Easter Sunday is the day that Jesus, who everyone had witnessed death on the cross, came back to life! That miracle in itself is something to celebrate. Furthermore, Jesus’ resurrection from the dead gives all people the possibility of having a renewed life. This is something we can be deeply grateful for.
Celebrate spending time with our loved ones.
Most people have time off work and school over the Easter holidays. For me, this makes it a key opportunity to get together with family and/or friends and have a BBQ, picnic, or go exploring. Show others that you value spending time with them and enjoy each other’s company!
Celebrate by receiving and giving blessings.
Easter is an opportunity to share chocolate eggs and hot cross buns. A time where we can bless the people around us with a little treat. I think back to the times when Cadbury eggs were given out in the classroom or at work – sweet treats like this are something we are never too old for. To me, this is a small token to represent the huge gift that Jesus is to the world. As eggs are symbolic of the life that is within, we can appreciate the true life that is experienced because Jesus gives new life to the world.
See! There is much around the corner to look forward to! We hope you’ll have a Happy Easter full of life and blessings as you reflect on Jesus with your loved ones.
